Review Patient Summit 2025
In November, patients, caregivers, clinicians and researchers from more than a dozen European countries met in Prague for the 2025 European Vasculitis Patient Summit.
Cryoglobulinemic vasculitis (cryo-vasculitis) is a form of small vessel vasculitis caused by the precipitation of abnormal proteins in the blood, known as cryoglobulins. These proteins clump together at lower temperatures and cause inflammation in the vessel wall. The disease can manifest itself in skin abnormalities (such as purple spots or ulcers), joint problems, nerve pain, and sometimes kidney involvement. Cryo-vasculitis is often secondary to other diseases, such as hepatitis C, autoimmune diseases, or certain blood disorders. According to the CHCC 2012 classification, it belongs to the primary systemic vasculitides of small vessels.
