LuVaCs Shared Care is a regional initiative in which the LUMC and the regional hospitals in the vicinity of the LUMC are working together to optimize the care for patients with a rare systemic autoimmune disease (also known as ‘systemic disease’).

LuVaCs is an acronym for three complex systemic autoimmune diseases: Lupus, Vasculitis and Complement Associated System Diseases. This acronym brings together 3 conditions for which the LUMC has had years of expertise.

Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE): including patients with lupus nephritis, cerebral or neuropsychiatric SLE or SLE patients who wish to have children
ANCA Associated Vasculitis (AAV), also called small vessel vasculitis: including patients with granulomatous polyangiitis (GPA, formerly Wegener’s disease), microscopic polyangiitis (MPA) or eosinophilic granulomatous polyangiitis (eGPA, formerly Churg-Strauss disease)
Complement-mediated systemic diseases: including patients with a C3 glomerulopathy, atypical haemotic uremic syndrome, dense deposit disease and membranoproliferative glomerulonephritis

LuVaCs Shared Care is een regionaal initiatief waaraan het LUMC en de regionale ziekenhuizen in de omgeving van het LUMC samenwerken om de zorg voor patiënten met een zeldzame systemische auto-immuunziekte (ook wel ‘systeemziekte’ genoemd) te optimaliseren.

LuVaCs is een acroniem voor een drietal complexe systemische auto-immuunziekten: Lupus-, Vasculitis- en Complement-geassocieerde Systeemziekten. Met dit acroniem worden 3 aandoeningen bij elkaar gebracht waarvoor in het LUMC al jarenlange expertise bestaat.

Systemische Lupus Erythematosus (SLE): o.a. patiënten met lupus nefritis, cerebrale of neuropsychiatrische SLE of SLE patiënten met een kinderwens
ANCA geAssocieerde Vasculitis (AAV), ook wel kleine vaten vasculitis genoemd: o.a. patiënten met granulomateuze polyangiitis (GPA, voorheen ziekte van Wegener), microscopische polyangiitis (MPA) of eosinofiele granulomateuze polyangiitis (eGPA, voorheen ziekte van Churg-Strauss)
Complement-gemedieerde systeemziekten: o.a. patiënten met een C3 glomerulopathie, atypische hemoytisch uremisch syndroom, dense deposit disease en membranoproliferatieve glomerulonefritis
